FightCamp is the UK’s premier annual Historical European Martial Arts event.
We invite a host of incredibly experienced and knowledgable instructors from around the world to teach at FightCamp each year. Our tournaments also attract some of the best fighters in the world.
Historical European Martial Arts
Classes include a range of disciplines.
From medieval combat using longswords, daggers and poleaxes, through the centuries to renaissance rapier, Baroque smallsword, Georgian pugilism, Victorian bayonet, wrestling and much more besides. We even include some modern self-protection and fitnesses classes.
There are a variety of levels to the classes, with some targeted at complete beginners and others giving more advanced techniques and advice to experienced fencers.
Unlike most other major HEMA events, FightCamp is held almost entirely outdoors. Classes predominantly take place on the extensive training fields, with the helpful addition of an indoor training hall and covered social area and bar.
We also have ample space for free sparring, melee games, traders and on site catering.
Most attendees camp on site, which creates a unique festival feel for the event.
We also provide a free BBQ dinner on the Saturday night.
There really is no need to leave the site at all from Thursday evening to Monday morning!
Who Is Behind FightCamp?
FightCamp was first held in 2004 when Matt Easton informally gathered some friends together to share ideas, fence and camp in a field. From there it has been developed over the years from a small informal gathering to one of the world’s largest international HEMA events.
Originally at the Gunpowder Mills, FightCamp moved to The Grange in 2010 and has been held there ever since.
The event is now organised and run by Matt and Lucy Easton, and is brought to you by world renowned fencing school Schola Gladiatoria.
FightCamp is made possibly by our incredible team of staff, instructors and judging volunteers.
You can get to know Matt via his popular Schola Gladiatoria YouTube Channel here.
